Beginning with an introductory session on Wednesday, March 2, Library Director Joe O’Toole will facilitate an Adult Reading & Book Discussion Series called “Memorable American Fiction from West to East.”

Each of the five novels will transport readers across the United States both geographically and chronologically. Participants will receive a free copy of each book to be read.
The group reconvenes monthly to relay insights, ask and answer questions, and discuss what makes each book memorable. Participants are asked to commit to the entire series, as sessions build on one another. Meetings will be held Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in-person at the Lyons Library and simultaneously via Zoom. Following is a list of meeting dates and books to be discussed:

March 2: Series Introduction
March 30: Riders of the Purple Sage by Zane Grey
April 27: Native Son by Richard Wright
May 25: Stoner by John Williams
June 29: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg
July 27: Empire Falls by Richard Russo
Space for this program is limited, so registration is required. To sign up, stop by or call the library at (315) 946-9262. You may also register online at lyonspubliclibrary.org by clicking on “Our Event Calendar.”

This Adult Reading and Discussion Series is made possible by the Lyons Public Library, the Friends of the Lyons Public Library, and through a generous grant from Humanities New York.
