Auburn Theological Seminary and Auburn. Concern for the spiritual health of the pioneer families of Western and Central New York inspired the creation of the Auburn Theological Seminary. Founded in 1818 and built by the hands of Auburnians, the institution was to become an influential exporter of religious thought in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. For Willard Chapel’s 125th Anniversary, Andrew Roblee, Project Architectural Historian with Environmental Design and Research will discuss the history of the Auburn Theological Seminary, including the important figures, buildings, and the principles that guided its progress over twelve decades.
