Choice Words enters Ithaca market; Angry Mom Records changes location
The Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) recently joined City of Ithaca and Tompkins Chamber officials in welcoming Choice Words and celebrating Angry Mom Records’ new location in the downtown Business Improvement District.
Choice Words joined the Ithaca community in December, bringing a team of highly successful grant-writing and communications experts to assist nonprofit organizations, businesses, and educational institutions in securing grant funding and fundraising.
“We welcome Choice Words’ grant writing and fundraising services to Ithaca. Its services will be a valuable addition for our grant-seeking businesses and organizations,” says Gary Ferguson, DIA executive director.
“Choice Words opened an office in downtown Ithaca because we believe the city is a fertile, growing community that would benefit from an experienced grant writing firm like ours,” says Steve Densmore, Choice Words president.
Amanda Heidel, manager of Choice Words Ithaca, adds, “We are looking forward to building community and serving as a resource for local organizations to pursue their fundraising goals.”
The DIA also celebrated Angry Moms Records’ new and completely renovated space in the upstairs level of Autumn Leaves Books store on the Commons. The record store was formerly tucked away in the basement of the same building.
“Angry Moms Records has been a community staple for nearly 15 years. You can’t find a collection of CDs, 45s, 78s, and vinyl anywhere else around here that is as extensive as the available collection here. We thank them for continuing to provide their services in the new, highly visible space,” says Ferguson.
“Angry Mom Records moved to December 11, 2022, and expanded when the opportunity was offered to us by Joe Wetmore (building owner and previous owner of Autumn Leaves). Our business really took off during the COVID pandemic and has continued ever since. We started running out of physical space, and this opportunity came at the perfect time. This expansion will allow us to add items we’ve been looking to sell in addition to music, like comics, graphic novels, DVDs, Blu-rays, posters, music-related apparel, etc. And in the near future, we will be building a stage to host shows and events with PM Press. We love our community because it’s a smart town filled with music and art lovers. And we are happy to be in the heart of it.”
