TWENTY+ NEW YORK STATE BREWERIES & CIDERIES SET TO PARTICIPATE IN 2ND ANNUAL CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL
New York Kitchen in Canandaigua will host the 2nd Annual Craft Brew & BBQ Festival on Saturday, June 1 from noon to 3 p.m. to highlight New York State produced craft beers and hard ciders.
“The festival speaks to the mission of the non-profit by offering festival goers the opportunity to sample a multitude of beers and hard ciders made in NYS,” said Jennifer Newman, Owner, Young Lion Brewing. “We are excited to once again be a part of a New York Kitchen event. Their programming brings together great food, drink, education – and a sense of community.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to vote on Best Consumer Experience and Best Display, with the winning breweries receiving placement on-tap for a full year at New York Kitchen. The inaugural winners: OSB Ciderworks (Lakeville) won for Best Consumer Experience with their “Cider Pong” and Reinvention Brewing (Manchester) won for Best Display with their Americana themed setup, will both be in attendance this year. Several gold medal winners from the 2019 New York State Craft Brewers Association Competition will also attend including:Rohrbach’s, Three Heads, Big Ditch, Naked Dove, Southern Tier, Brooklyn Brewery and Resurgence.
“New York Kitchen’s Craft Brew Fest is one of our favorite festivals each year. We are more than ready for some summer fun, and what a way to kick it off with beer and BBQ – we wouldn’t miss it!” says John Urlaub, Owner of Rohrbach Brewing Company.
The festival will feature live music by two local bands, Dos Locos and Banned From the Tavern and there will also be BBQ food available from Marty’s Meats and the New York Kitchen food truck. An educational twist to the event offers festival goers the opportunity to learn about the importance of New York State grown hops, barley and malt with the rapid growth of farm-based craft beverage businesses since New York State’s first Wine, Beer, Spirits and Cider summit in 2012.
State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said, “Thanks to Governor Cuomo’s commitment to growing the craft beverage industry, we have seen an incredible response from our producers making these innovative beverages and from our farmers, who supply the local ingredients for the many varieties of New York farm-based wines, beers, ciders and spirits. We have also have seen a tremendous response from consumers, who are supporting these local businesses whether it be through an on-site visit or through festivals like this one—they are truly excited to try a New York-brand craft beverage.”
