Children’s Festival Celebrates Winter

01/23/2020

For the 8th year, Ithaca Children’s Garden’s Festival of Fire and Ice celebrates the magic of winter!

Ithaca Children’s Garden Festival of Fire & Ice returns this year on Saturday, February 8th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Garden, which is located at Cass Park, Rt. 89 (Taughannock Blvd) Ithaca. This festival will mark the 8th annual celebration of winter outdoor play. The festival provides time and space for people to remember the winter games they love and to discover new ways to play through the coldest season. Visitors will enjoy hot chocolate from a cauldron, marshmallow roasting, bonfires, snow fort and den building, and more. Weather permitting there will be snow and ice play all across the Garden. The event will end with a spectacular fire dance performance not to be missed. There will also be a concession stand with lots of yummy treats and our new ICG apparel line. Dress warmly – layers work best – and bring some cash for fiery/icy treats.

This event, like the Garden, is free and open to everyone. You will be asked to sign-in at the main entrance and any donation will be warmly appreciated (suggested: $15 family donation or $5 individual donation), however, it should not be a barrier to participation.

The Festival of Fire & Ice is made possible by a grant from the Tompkins County Tourism Program and with support from The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Ithaca Children’s Garden is an award-winning public children’s garden free and open to all, every day of the year, dawn to dusk. ICG’s mission is to connect children to nature to create a more beautiful, resilient, and just world. Our vision is that every child has the basic human right to play, learn, and grow outdoors, and develops a life-long relationship with the living world.
