Heron Hill Winery hosted the Eclipse 25 Year Celebration Party on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Hammondsport. Held in the event tent, the Eclipse 25 Year Celebration Party sold out with over 150 attendees including loyal Heron Hill customers, regional tourism & marketing professionals, media, and wine store & restaurant representatives. “Hot Sweets” featuring members of Rochester’s Prime Time Funk set the background for a lively evening of dancing under the Heron Hill Tent, and Nolan’s of Canandaigua catered the dinner.
The VIP reception included tastings of three Heron Hill double gold winning wines as recently awarded at the NY Wine & Food Classic: Reserve Pinot Blanc 2015; Ingle Vineyard Riesling 2014; and Ingle Vineyard The Chosen Spot red blend 2013. In addition, Heron Hill had a tasting station with 2010 and 2013 vintages of Eclipse Red, and a vertical of Ingle Vineyard Rieslings. To commemorate the year, Heron Hill has bottled ten 6 L screen-printed glass “Methuselah” bottles. Owner John Ingle and COO Eric Frarey opened one bottle during the event to share with the crowd. One lucky guest was randomly selected to win a full 6L bottle during the event and another winner took home an empty bottle that was poured during the event. As owner John Ingle shared with the guests, the Eclipse event is a jumping off point leading in to 2017 marking the 40th anniversary of establishing Heron Hill Winery.
Heron Hill’s signature red blend comprised of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, was an early category leader for New York red blends. The look of the Eclipse brand has been very consistent over the years and the wine remains one of Heron Hill’s top selling wines as the growth of the red blend segment continues to hold strong among US wine drinkers. Throughout this year, Heron Hill has hosted intimate tasting and education experiences at its three tasting rooms in the Finger Lakes as well as in select wine and liquor stores.
