Taste delicious local fare and support local organizations addressing food insecurity along the shores of Cayuga Lake at the 2nd annual Taste of the Finger Lakes.
The all-inclusive ticketed event, featuring more than 40 local food and beverage vendors, will take place Tuesday, June 13, at the iconic Ithaca Farmers Market pavilion at Steamboat Landing, located at 545 3rd St. in Ithaca. It will also include live music, a photo booth, silent auction, and lounges by Serendipity Catering.
The event is an opportunity for many local food and beverage businesses to showcase their creations and highlight the offerings of the Finger Lakes region. To maximize the nonprofit fundraising goals, the local businesses donate their time and products for Taste of the FLX.
“At the heart of the Finger Lakes are the growers, makers, and culinary artists who transform the bounty of this region into world-class food and drink,” said Emma Hewitt, Taste of the Finger Lakes event director. “We envision our community as a place where everyone should have access to good healthy food.”
All of the event’s proceeds will go to local organizations working to address food insecurity in this region: The Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Healthy Food For All and The Youth Farm Project. The inaugural event in 2022 raised nearly $30,000, a goal that organizers intend to surpass this year.
The Taste of the FLX Welcome Hour reception, presented by the premier sponsor, CFCU Community Credit Union, will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The reception is for top tier ticket buyers, sponsors, and special guests to sample offerings from a select group of gourmet vendors along the waterfront.
The Main Event, from 6:30-9 p.m., will feature food trucks, restaurants, caterers, wineries, distilleries, cideries, breweries, and more serving up tastes of their creations. Among the offerings will be gelato and empanadas, and sips of matcha, soju, craft beer, and the FLX’s finest wines.
