This book features 102 photographs documenting young people enjoying life in the contemporary Erie Canal corridor in Upstate New York. It also includes photographs of kids from the Barge Canal Construction era (1905-1918) and from the mid-twentieth century, with introductions by the author and Museum Curator, Ashley Maready. The digital version of Bob’s book is being released to coincide with the opening of the exhibit at the Erie Canal Museum. Maready says, “Bob is a good friend of ours, and we’re happy to introduce his new book to readers.” The museum hopes that the book and exhibit will lighten the hearts of Erie Canal fans as we all ply the waters of turbulent times. The museum reopened Thursday, July 30, with an exhibit of 21st Century Kids in the Link Gallery.
“My wife and I are planning on delivering copies of the book, by boat, this summer,” says the author. “When we get underway, the libraries we have copies for are: Middleport, Whitehall, Pittsford, Waterford, and Baldwinsville; towns where many of the photographs were taken.”
He has also written several books about life on the Canal, including Erie Canal Abstract (Pictures at An Expedition), Three Generations on the Erie Canal, and From Clyde to Buffalo.
For a hardcover copy of 21st Century Kids, contact Bob Graham through e-mail: lbgraham155@aol.com. He will get a 40% discount off the publisher’s price.
