There were times this spring when we thought summer had come to the Finger Lakes early, only to be followed by the coldest and wettest May on record. But the glorious warmth of sunshine we experienced over Memorial Day weekend finally signalled the arrival of the summer season.
For those of you who are water enthusiasts, you might explore a new waterway this summer as outlined in Paddling the Waterways of the Finger Lakes. Or for the adventurous treasure hunters, learning to scuba dive might be of interest to you. Maybe just a boat ride is more to your liking, and Canandaigua Lake has Captain Gray to show you the sights and tell you some tales.
One of the goals of our magazine is to help you learn more about the region and expose you to new adventures. A visit to Sterling will satisfy a family that seeks both natural surroundings and entertainment in one weekend. Drive-in movie theaters are not as plentiful as they once were, but we are lucky to have access to several throughout the region. My family and I viewed the latest animated film recently at the Vintage Drive-In, and the experience is like nothing else.
