Art Center in Auburn Offers Online and Public Programming

06/04/2020

The Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn invites you to check out free events and online programming for the whole family to enjoy.

Threads of Light

The exhibit is a collaboration between Skaneateles artist Lorne Covington and contemporary textile artist Gerri Spilka.

Covington, who creates interactive artwork and installations as Noirflux, manipulated images of Spilka’s large-scale art quilts by adding movement. The resulting work will be a changing textile of pattern and light. The installation will be visible every night from 8pm-5am, though it is best viewed at full dark around 9pm. It can be seen in front of the center, located at 205 Genesee Street, Auburn.

Online Studio Visits

Our Program Director, Davana Robedee visits the studios of artists from all over the country, discussing their art practice and exploring their studios. Learn about their influences, processes, and all of the different ways that artists cultivate a meaningful practice.

New visits will be added regularly. Current artists include Ann Clarke, Ben Diller, John Michael Byrd, and Joe Cunningham.

Family Projects

Our new Family Projects endeavor to provide art activities that everyone can enjoy with supplies you may already have at home.

Share your projects on social media with the hashtag #schweinfurthartcenter and we will reshare your work! Enjoy!

More projects will be added regularly.

Both Ends of the Rainbow Virtual Exhibition

Our annual exhibition has moved online!

The Schweinfurth Art Center loves this exhibit, and we did not want to cancel our annual exhibition of student and senior artwork. So we are holding a virtual exhibit! We have created videos of the artwork that would have been in the show.
