Brian Keeler, an award winning artist with ties to both the Susquehanna Valley and the Finger Lakes, has published his second book titled Light on the Figure- Aspects of Painting People.
This new book is devoted to paintings of people. portraiture, genre scenes, slice of life Americana, allegorical interpretations of ancient myth, cityscapes and other subjects. Light on the Figure is designed to appeal to the general reader with special significance for collectors, other artists and students.
This beautiful hardcover has been years in the making and represents over four decades of the artist’s career depicting people in his work. Oil paintings are predominant but the book also includes pastels, watercolors, drawings and etchings. More than just another beautiful coffee table volume, there is significant text where Keeler explains about his inspirations, technique and ideas. A unique feature of the book is the inclusion of links to YouTube videos.allowing for views of the paintings during their development.

Friday, July 8th from 4 to 6 pm The West End Gallery in Corning will host a book signing celebrating three decades of exhibiting Keeler’ works. .
On Saturday, July 9 there will be a book signing at Brookton’s Market in Brooktondale, New York from 5 to 8. pm This event will also include a performance by La Dolce Vita, a gypsy swing band that includes Brian on guitar.
On July 14,from 5 to 8pm at the North Star Art Gallery in Ithaca, NY a summer soirée will include an exhibit, book signing and music by swing jazz group Zingology. North Star Art Gallery offers ongoing exhibitions of Keeler’s works.
A new exhibit of Keeler’s work will open on Saturday, September 17In September, at the Mainstreet Gallery in Kingston, Pennsylvania . This book signing and opening is from 5 to 8 and will include music by the Doug Smith Jazz combo.
On September 1st a new show opens at the Auradell Gallery in the Stroudsmoor in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
In October, at the Argosy Gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine there will be a book signing and an exhibit of Keeler’s paintings of coastal Maine.
