Joseph and Giuliana Calderone will be presenting An Evening of Music at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport, on Friday, June 14, 2019. This special event is to honor the Music Director and Conductor of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL), Toshiyuki Shimada.
Maestro Shimada is a world-renowned conductor who has been leading symphony concerts in the Southern Finger Lakes Region of New York for the past ten years. His commitment to performing excellence comes shining through with each and every piece under the direction of this baton.
During this special concert, Maestro Shimada will conduct a twelve-piece chamber orchestra of OSFL musicians as they perform the music of Mozart, Morricone and more!
The elegance of the evening begins at 6:15 p.m. with a champagne reception staged among the museum’s stunning collection of more than 200 vintage wooden boats that have been built in the Finger Lakes Region over the past century. The masterful classic music repertoire will be performed beginning at 7:15 in one of the lower level wine vaults originally built in 1886, now appropriately named The Taylor Room.
Seating is limited to just 75 attendees. Reservations by Thursday, June 13 at 4 p.m. are a must!
A minimum per person donation of $100 is requested to support The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes. All proceeds go directly to the orchestra.
Contact the OSFL office to make your donation and reserve your seat, 607-936-2873.
The OSFL currently offers four regular season full orchestra concerts, including a side-by-side Youth Orchestra and professional musician collaboration, the Musicians’ Choice chamber music series, concerts by the Chorus of the Southern Finger Lakes, several concerts by the Youth Orchestra and Junior String Ensemble, as well as smaller ensemble concerts for children. The orchestra collaborates with regional cultural partners, artists, and like-minded organizations to advance their mutual artistic growth in the greater Finger Lakes region.
