Corning’s Gaffer District and Corning Palace Theatre will host a Drive-In Movie Night on July 17 at 9 pm. The family-friendly evening will feature the adventure/comedy, Sonic the Hedgehog. The cost is $10 per carload and will include four bottles of water (donated by the Southeast Steuben County Library) and a bag of popcorn compliments of the Gaffer District. The Drive-In movie will be hosted by the Corning Credit Union, located at 1 Credit Union Plaza parking lot, and shown on an outdoor movie screen.
“I could not be more excited to offer our community an opportunity to get together in a safe manner,” Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning’s Gaffer District, shared. “Creating a drive-in theatre in our downtown has been fun with our partners, The Palace Theatre, Hard Hit Productions, Southeast Steuben County Library and 101 The Met”.
The temporary drive-in will adhere to New York’s guidelines on social distancing. Attendees will be allowed to sit inside their vehicles or empty parking space next to the vehicle. Gov. Andrew Cuomo allowed drive-in theaters to begin operating across the state on May 15.
Local restaurants, Carey’s Brew House, and Pudgies Pizza will be available to deliver items directly to your vehicles.
