Tickets for the 12th annual Jane Austen Ball on Sunday, April 29, 2018 are currently on sale through the Country Dancers of Rochester’s website or in-person at weekly dances. This popular Regency era ball sells out every year and tickets for dancers must be purchased in advance. Observer tickets are available on the day of the ball or can be purchased in advance. Period attire is admired but not required.

The elegant English country ball takes place at 2:00 pm in the beautiful ballroom at Cutler Union in the Memorial Art Gallery. The ticket price of $65.00 includes the ball, lunch, dance practice and a scrumptious dessert table. The entire dance weekend, which also features experienced English country and an additional practice on Saturday, April 28, 2018, is sponsored by the Country Dancers of Rochester and the Jane Austen Society of North America. The dance mistress for the ball is Judi Rivkin from Princeton, NJ. Music will be provided by Serendipity from Newark, NY comprised of Laurie Williams (flute) and Barb Seppeler (piano). Dance classes to prepare for the ball will take place from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm on Sundays, March 25, April 8, April 15 and April 22 at First Baptist Church, 175 Allens Creek Rd, Rochester NY 14618. The cost is $5.00 per class. There will be a free potluck dinner following each class.
About the Country Dancers of Rochester
Country Dancers of Rochester (CDR) sponsors traditional New England Contra Dances and English Country Dances. We dance twice weekly to live music. The dances are participatory, open to all, with live music, smoke-free and alcohol free. Newcomers are always welcome. Dances are taught and prompted, with teaching at the beginning of the evening. No partner or special dress needed – dress comfortably and wear soft-soled, low-heeled shoes. No perfume please.
English country dances take place on Sundays (except fifth Sundays) from 6:30 – 9:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 175 Allens Creek Rd., Rochester, NY 14618. Admission is $9 ($8 members and students, ages 17 & under are free).

The Jane Austen Society of North America is dedicated to the appreciation of Jane Austen and her writing. The Central & Western New York Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America meets on the third Saturday of every month (except June, July and August) at 1:00 pm in the second floor Community Room of Barnes & Noble in Pittsford.
